Coleman-McGee Funeral Home was founded by Ellis C. McGee, who was granted a permit to operate on December 17, 2019 by the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service, Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2018, the North Carolina Department of Transportation brought an expansion to Northampton County, North Carolina to bring a 4-Lane Highway, therefore, Coleman Funeral Home on Highway 301, Garysburg, NC, was sold to the state. Coleman Funeral Home closed on December 31, 2019.
Coleman Funeral Home had been there since 1960, founded by Mrs. Helen Coleman-Washington. There, Ellis got his start.
