The Life of Mr. Carlton Roberts, 62
Wendell Carlton Roberts, son of the late James Edward Roberts and Earlean Garner Roberts Delancy was born on January 1, 1953 in Greenville County, Emporia, Virginia. He departed this life on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He received his formal education through the Public School System in Norfolk, Virginia where he graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk, Virginia. He later went to college to further his education.
Carlton was the youngest born to the late James and Earlean. He was preceded in death by brother Edward Charles and sister Mary Magdalean.
On January 15, 1973, Carlton enlisted in the United States Army until January 12, 1976 where he received the rank of E-5. He spent his life traveling and being with family until his
health began to decline. It was the simple things that He loved; Horseback riding, Tug-of-War, and Horse Shoes while on the farm in Gaston, North Carolina.
Carlton was employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Norfolk, Virgina, where He held many positions; his latest position was a supervisor.
Treasuring His memories are His Niece: Kanitra Adele Roberts of Euclid, Ohio, a Nephew: Kenneth Roberts of Lawrenceville, VA., two Great-Nieces: Kayla Roberts and Kiana Butler and a Great-Nephew: Malik Roberts of Euclid, Ohio. Also treasuring his memories are Aunts: Eula Highe and husband Eugene and Lucille Thomas all of Emporia, Virginia, Corrine Merritt and husband Matthew of Valentines, Virginia, Catherine Goodrich of Lawrenceville, Virginia and Earlene Butler of Gaston, North Carolina and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a private immediate family viewing Friday, September 23, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the funeral parlor with a public viewing from 1 to 6 PM.
His remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
