This is to certify that Virginia Lee Powell was born on March 30, 1947 in Jackson, NC to the late Archie Lee and Rockie Lee Powell. Virginia was born and raised in Northampton County. She was educated by Northampton County School Systems and further her life in Virginia Beach, VA.
Virginia worked and retired as a Professional Dry Cleaner at Avalon Dry Cleaners in Virginia Beach, VA. Virginia had a passion for flowers, floral arrangements and gardening. It wasn't much Virginia couldn't do. If there was a way she would find a way, prefect it and get it done.
Virginia was a dedicated mother and Grandmother first and foremost. She treasured her family, always serving as the anchor and embraced every moment with joy and a smile. She was the glue that kept her family together, especially her role as a Great-Grandmother. Virginia had a vivacious heart and personality and made people around her laugh.
She was known for her country accent and her willingness to help anybody she could. Virginia always spoke about her customers at the dry cleaners. She would always tell people she was going to "Get Them Right".
When people would stop by her home to get some good country cooking, it was a joy to her. Collard greens, fried corn bread, and chicken and dumplings was her specialties. If you were hungry after leaving her house it wasn't because of her cooking, it was because she wasn't home at the time. Virginia made sure she had something for everybody to eat. If not, Virginia would get back in the kitchen and cook something of your liking. She was loved by many.
It was on the eve of Monday, October 14, 2019 that the death angel went to Waterside Health and Rehab Center in Norfolk, VA and beckoned for Ms. Virginia Powell, 71 of Norfolk, VA, who was a native of Northampton County, NC.
