Virginia Grace Lockhart Buffaloe was the oldest of eleven children, born on March 7, 1918 in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the late Evanglish Martin Lockhart and Elizabeth Holloman.

After 100 productive years on this earth, on July 22, 2018 The Lord in His infinite wisdom and mercy dispatched an angel to carry Virginia to her eternal rest.

Virginia completed her formal education in the Northampton County Public School system. On November 19, 1938, Virginia married Lunch Buffaloe. They were married for over 30 years until his death in 1969.

Virginia accepted Jesus as her Savior early in her life and was baptized at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church. She served as a deaconess at the Church for many years.

Virginia was an excellent cook and homemaker. From the 1930s to 2003 she worked primarily as a cook and housekeeper. She cooked and served meals to many notable individuals, including President Gerald Ford, Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Lawford, Billy Jean King, and several soap opera actors. She was well known for her baked goods and southern dishes.

Virginia was a very energetic and independent woman. She retired at the age of 85. She drove her automobile until she was over 90 years old. Friends, relatives, and others driving pass her "pink" house on Route 301 in Garysburg, North Carolina often saw her riding her lawn mower until she was almost 90 years old. She was well loved by family members and friends around the country. She will be dearly missed by all.
