The Life of Mrs. Viola Alma Threatt Williams, 86
Mrs. Viola Alma Threatt Williams was born on Feb. 6, 1925 in Northampton County to the late John Early and Sally Mae Threatt, and departed this life on Saturday morning, March 26, 2011 at her home.
She ws 86 years old, and the youngest of eleven children.
At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Roanoke Salem Baptist Church where she attended until her demise. Viola married Early Williams, Sr. and enjoyed 46 years of marriage until his passing in 2000.
She received her education at the Northampton County Training School (NCTS), Garysburg, NC, and North Carolina College (NCCU) in Durham, NC. She taught kindergarten in Northampton County Schools, after which she worked in retail at Peebles Department Store in Roanoke Rapids, NC, where she retired in 1988.
Viola enjoyed genealogy, working in her yard, Antiques Roadshow on PBS, 60 Minutes, and watching any sports on TV.
Viola is now enjoying a heavenly reunion with her dear husband Early, sisters, brothers, and many friends and relatives who predeceased her. It is a glorious reunion for all !!
Those left with fond memories of Viola are her beloved son: Early Williams, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC; sisters: Mrs. Anna Laura Jackson of Garysburg, NC; and Mrs. Vivian T. Gardner and husband Freddie of Miami, FL; nieces: Nicola Davis, Jacqualyn Johnson, and Tamara Johnson of PA, and Melissa Vaughan, of MD; nephews: Eddie Threatt of PA, and David Johnson and wife Debbie of NJ, and a step-daughter: Glorine Gattison, of Castle Hayne, NC. She is also survived by a very special friend and classmate: Ms. Katie Perry of Garysburg, NC and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Viola Threatt Williams, 86 of 2169 Macon Price Road, Garysburg, NC who died Saturday, March 26, 2011 in her residence will be: Friday, April 1, 2011, 1:00 pm, Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Garysburg, NC, Rev. Robert Sessoms will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Threatt Family Cemetery, Hwy 301 N., Garysburg, NC.
A viewing will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Coleman Funeral Home, from 1 to 7 pm.
