The Life of Mrs. Shirley Long-Stone, 67

A devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, MRS. SHIRLEY LONG-STONE, 67 peacefully expired from this earthly life Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, NC. Shirley ws born May 15, 1943 in Northampton County, NC to the late Ned and Mary Edmond Long.

Shirley received her education from the Northampton County Public School System. Later in life she met and was United In Holy Matrimony to the late William Stone and is preceded in death by a son: Ned Long, Jr.

She was a long time member of Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she joined at an early age.

She lives today and forever in the lives of her sons: Reginald Long and fiance, Crystal of Chester, VA and Lawrence "Larry" Long and wife, Anna of San Antonio, TX, a son that she raised as her own, Daryl Long of Durham, NC; a step-daughter: Annie B. Johnson of Graham, NC; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; eight step-grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; one sister: Linda Long-Brown of Roanoke Rapids, NC, two brothers: Robert Long and wife, Connie of Garysburg, NC and Earl Long of Seaboard, NC; four brothers-In-Law: Delmar Stone of Garysburg, NC and Donald Stone and wife, Georgia Stone, Melvin Stone and wife Roberta, and Kenneth Stone all of Graham, NC; two sisters-In-Law: Emmer S. Perry and Glenda Crossburn both of Graham, NC; one aunt: Mrs. Irene James and many, many nieces, nephews, other rlatives, In-Laws, cousins, friends and church family.

A private viewing will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at 12:30 pm with public viewing from 1 to 7 pm at the funeral home.

The funeral will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 1 pm at Hill Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, NC wil Rev. Alfred Solomon Officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
