The Life of Sandra Bennett Marshall, 51
Sandra Delorise Bennett-Marshall was born onOctober 26, 1959 to Sam and Lula Bennett in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Very early in life Sandra was introduced to Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Shearin's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and served in various ministries. Later she united with the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Weldon, NC where she served as Head Usher, Church Secretary and Choir Member until her passing.
Sandra was educated in the public school system of New Jersey. She furthered her education at Halifax Community college where she received an Associate Degree in Social Work. She worked for several years at the Greensville Correctional Institution, Jarrett, VA. However, Sandra had a passion for education and educating children so she enrolled in the University of Phoenix Education Program. This passion lead her to volunteer countless hours at Garysburg Elementary School, Garysburg, NC from the time her beloved son began school. Over the years, she has served as PTA President, Vice President, Treasurer and Band Booster Club Member. Sandra decided to leave her position with the Greensville Correctional Institute and to take on a position with the Northampton County Schools as an Elementary Teacher's Assistant. Even after taking the position with Northampton County Schools, Sandra continue to be a dedicated school volunteer and the driving force behind every educational and extra-curricular activity that her son undertook. Yers ago she joined the esteem Order of the Eastern Stars.
Sandra was an amazing person and she spent her life caring and serving others. One of her greatest passions of life was spending time and traveling with her family and friends. She always told it "like it was" and availed herself to assist anyone in need.
Sandra was preceded in death by her brother Sam Bennett III. Left to cherish a life of love until we meet again: her beloved son: Deryck D. Bennett of the home, her parents: Sam and Lula Bradley Bennett of the home, two Sisters: Lori Bennett Arrington and husband Cedric of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Audrea Bennett of Garysburg, NC, and one brother: Tony Cooke of Louisburg, NC, one Nephew: Christopher Samuel Bennett, two Nieces: Tami Kennetta Stokes and Trianna Tishelle Bennett all of the home, one Great Niece: Yazme'en Taliyaha Manley and one Great-Nephew: Saquan Travell Manley of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Uncles: Raymond Bennett Sr. and wife Alberta of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Mason Bradley and Wilson Brandley and wife Barbara of New Jersey, and Rev. Raymond Bradley, Sr. and wife Pearline of Pleasant Hill, NC, Aunts: Margaret Bennett of Weldon, NC, Rowena Bennett, Ola Mae Bennett both of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Mary Craddock of Virginia Beach, VA, Coretha Bradley and Helen Grant both of Weldon, NC, Elaine Bradley and Pattie Ransome both of Garysburg, NC, Best friends: Evette McGuire, Beverly Rooks, and Alisha Webb and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Arrangements for Sandra Deloise Bennett Marshall, 51 of 100 Hickory St., Garysburg, NC who died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 2pm at Shearin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids, NC, where Rev. Lynn Bradley is Pastor with Rev. Raymond Bradley Officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakridge Cemetery, Weldon, NC.
Repast will be at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 750 County Rd., Weldon, NC following the Burial.
There will be a viewing Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the funeral home from 1 to 7 pm.
