The Life and Legacy of Mr. Samuel Travares Atkins, 41

Funeral Services for Mr. Samuel T. Atkins will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018, 12:00 O'Clock High Noon, Northampton County High School, Gaston, NC.

Rev. Ronald Owens will be the Master of Ceremony and Rev., Dr. Jimmy Atkins (cousin) will be the eulogist.

Burial will follow in Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Gaston, NC.

Floral Attendants and Pall Bearers will be classmates, family and friends.

Samuel T. Atkins was born to the late Arletha Dare Squire Atkins and Chasie Boone.

He received his formal education through the public schools of Northampton County, NC.

At an early age he accepted Christ as his savior and attended Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church, where continued to attend whenever he was able.

For 10 plus years he worked as a cook for Ralph's Barbeque. Cooking was his passion and he enjoyed every moment of it. Every time you saw him he had a smile that would brighten anyone's day and always something funny to say.

Peacefully, on Wednesday, May 18, 2018, he departed his earthly life at his home in Gaston, NC. Beloved son DaQuan M. Atkins and beloved brother Tony Wayne Atkins both proceeded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memories and meant the world to him are his children: Samuel Atkins Jr. of Pembroke, NC and Ty' Ronica Rawls of Greensboro, NC: His unborn Grandson: Sage Nolan Atkins; A Sister: Gloria Atkins-Miles and husband Woodrow of Whitehall, PA; Brother: Ronald Atkins of Elizabeth City, NC; Step Sister: Edna Capers of Brooklyn, NY;  A Companion for more than half of his life: April Robinson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; A special friend: Brenda Banks of Gaston, NC; His Nieces: Kamesha Boyd and husband Laroyd of Powder Springs, GA; LaTonya Batchelor and Arlesia Miles both of Gaston, NC; Christina Capers of Brooklyn, NY; Nephew: Woodrow Miles, III of Whitehall, PA; His Aunts: Olivia Atkins of Raleigh, NC; Barbara Squire and husband Sherman of  Washington, DC; Rev. Gladys Mayo and husband Calvin of Garysburg, NC; Selina Squire of Gaston, NC; Thelma Atkins and husband Ray of Brooklyn, NY; One Great Aunt: Geneva Smith of Gaston, NC; Uncle: Cecil Squire and wife Lisa of Littleton, NC; God Mother: Lethell Arrington of Gaston, NC;  A very close friend of the family: Shelia Arrington; his best friends: Delvonte Arrington, Greg Arrington, Robert Arrington all of Gaston, NC and a host family and friends…
