The Life of MR. ROY LEE TAYLOR, 71
ROY LEE TAYLOR, 71, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 8, 2016 in Greater South East Hospital, Washington, DC, while visiting his family in Washington, DC. Roy was the 6th child of the late Richard and Viola Taylor. He is predeceased by his Father-In-Law: Milton Bailey; Mother-In-Law: Gladys Bailey; Sister-In-Law: Deborah Bailey Christian; Brother-In-Law: Raynard Wilson, Sr., Milton Bailey; Nephews: Anthony Taylor and Darrell Fernandez.
ROY was educated in Weldon, North Carolina public school system. In his early twenties, Roy left his hometown of Weldon, NC and moved to New York. After a few years in New York, Roy relocated to Washington, DC where he worked as a printer with the Washington Post until his retirement in 1995. He was an active member of the Masons until 1987. He entered into union with his wife, Paula Taylor in 1973, their marriage had a life span of forty-three years before his untimely death.
Roy Lee Taylor was born on September 30, 1944, in Weldon, NC. He was a homebody who favored watching old Western Movies, fishing and cooking for his family. He was considered an excellent cook and frequently favored his family and friends with his pork bar-b-que. Roy was also known for his skills as a carpenter, often repairing and remodeling homes for both family and friends.
Roy is survived by his wife: Paula Taylor; Two Children: Tina Marie Taylor and Kelvin Leon Taylor; Three Step-Children: Shelia Pittman, David Brown and Antoinette Paige; Eleven Siblings; Willie Taylor, Odell Taylor, Nettie Taylor, Mary Alice Mangum and husband Bro. Doc, Richard Taylor, Jr., Jasper Taylor and wife Katie, Andrew Taylor and wife Helen, David Taylor and wife Lady, Edward Taylor, Omessa Arrington and husband Hayward, James Taylor and wife Gloria; Sisters-In-Law: Irene Fernandez, Gerri Ford, Shelia Wilson, Iris Grimes, Valerie Wilson and Towana Deshazo; Brothers-In-Law: John Ford, Mark Deshazo, Franklin Wilson and Christopher Grimes; Eighteen Grandchildren; Twenty-Five Great-Grandchildren and Ninety-Two Nieces and Nephews and a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.
There will be a private immediate family viewing Friday, July 22, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the funeral parlor with a public viewing from 1 to 6 PM.
