The Life of Rosa Harrell-Grant, 88
Ms. Rosa Mae Harrell-Grant was born in Bertie County, NC on March 10, 1926 to the late William & Rosetta Harrell. She was the second of ten children.
Rosa Mae received her education through the public schools of Northamton County, NC.
Upon confession of her faith, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, NC. Rosa Mae loved to sing. Until her health began to fail her she was a faithful member of several choirs: Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Senior Choir, Hills Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Senior Choir, and the Garysburg Gospel Chorus to name a few.
She was always willing to help everyone. A mother and grandmother of her community. She loved sewing quilts and making homemade biscuits. Those biscuits have feed many of kids on Maple Street, Garysburg, NC.
Rosa Mae was married to the late Walter J. Grant. She was also preceded in death by her son, Peoler "Mike" Grant; four brothers: James, Willie, Cleveland and Leven Harrell; two sisters: Josephine Bundick and Ora Faison.
On April 13, 2014 aopproximately 11:25 AM, Ms. Rosa Mae Harrell-Grant entered into her eternal rest in Hampton Manor, Gaston, NC.
Those left to cherish her memories are her seven children: Stoney Grant and wife Fannie, Tim Grant and wife Maria, Mary Long and husband Sandy all of Halifax, NC, Flora Dawson and husband David of Las Vegas, NV, Raymond Grant and wife Pattie of Roanoke Rapids, NC, James Grant and wife Annie of Weldon, NC and William Harrell and wife Mary of Lexington, NC; a Daughter-In-Law: Carolyn Grant of Weldon, NC; Rosa Mae was blessed with 23-Grandchildren: Dier Grant, Nakia Bunn, Latrezia Grant, Telisa Ransom, Marquita Grant, Krystal Ransom, Priscilla Grant, Kiva Ransom, Devin Grant, Alkeem Deloatch, Melody Hasty, Michelle Grant, Markea Grant, De'Unta Squire, Michael P. Grant, Camden Grant, Trevor Dawson, Michael A. Grant, Ebony Grant, Amhad Hubbard Barbara Elam, Vernon Watson and Rodney Jones; Rosa Mae also was blessed with 24-Great-Grandchildren and a Great-Great-Grandchild; two Brothers: Burklin Harrell of Garysburg, NC and John Harrell of Trenton, NJ; one Sister: Carrie Garris of Roanoke Rapids, NC and a Sister-In-Law: Rosa Harrell of Garysburg, NC; Her god-son: Willie Martin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends; Special friends to her and just to name a few: Markel Smallwood, Dorothy Squire, James Epps, Tony Evans, Linda Anderson, Helen Caine and Mary Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014, 12:00 O'Clock High Noon at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 4110 Bryantown Road, Jackson, NC with the Pastor Rev. Bassil Williams delivering the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
There will be a private immediate family only viewing Friday, April 18, 2014 at 12:30 PM at the funeral parlor. A public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 PM in the chapel.
