The Life of Mr. Ronald Irwin McDaniel, 65

Ronald Irwin McDaniels, a son of the late Fletcher McDaniels and Millie Cheek McDaniels, was born June 12, 1950 in Washington, DC

He received his education in Washington, DC and after graduation, was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in 1970. He received training at Fort Gordon for Communications Signal Corp. During his tour in Vietnam, he was a Radioman with the First Calvary Unit. He received the Vietnam Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Overseas Medal.

When he returned from the War, he received computer and software training from the D.C. Technical Institute. Subsequently, he pursued and enjoyed a long career as a Salesman with Xerox, Eastman Kodak, and Time Life.

In October 1975, he married Corliss Sanders and from this union produced two children, Corwin Douglas and Munira Iyanna.

During most recent years he relocated to Martinsburg, West Virginia and began a new career with the Department of Veteran Affairs. He made many new friends and acquaintances that loved and admired him.

Ronnie was an avid collector of books and watches. He was an excellent hand dancer and loved to play games/cards. He was a kind, gentle, and happy person; however, you never wanted to get on his bad side. His ambition and goal was to live a life free from strife and discord. He always embraced and encouraged everyone to be in harmony.

At an early age, Ronnie was a member of the New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. He was baptized and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savoir.

Peacefully, he went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his brother, Fletcher "Bud" McDaniels, Jr. Today, he leaves treasured memories with: His children: Corwin and Munira McDaniels both of Martinsburg, WVA,; His grandchildren: Tamia and Mia Stewart both of Crofton, MD; His siblings: Michael McDaniels and wife Odessa of Chillum, MD, Beverly O'Banion of Fort Washington, MD, Calvin McDaniels and wife Claudette of Gainesville, VA, Dennis McDaniels and wife Melissa of Waldorf, MD, Jeffrey McDaniels and wife Bari of Alexandria, VA, Sharon Collins and husband William of Silver Spring, MD, Brian McDaniels and wife Tanya of Alexandria VA, Deborah McDaniels of Silver Spring, MD; Uncles & Aunts: Bishop William H. Cheek, Sr. and wife Mother Lucille of Tillery, NC, Arthur Cheek and wife Liz of Landover, MD, Ruby Barrett and husband Johnnie of Richmond VA and Mattie Rainey of Garysburg, NC; a host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Ronald Irwin McDaniel, 65 a United States Veteran of Washington, DC, expired Friday, November 27, 2015 in the Veterans Hospital, West Virginia. He is the son of the late Fletcher & Millie Cheek-McDaniels.


Funeral Services will be held 1:00 O'Clock In The Afternoon, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Evangelistic Church Of Deliverance-Sanctuary, 195 Sycamore Street, Weldon, NC. Elder Clarence Harris will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery, Weldon, NC.

His remains will repose at the church one hour prior to the service. There will be a private viewing for the immediate Family only Friday, December 4, 2014 at the funeral parlor.

Floral Bearers will be Nieces and Cousins, and Casket Bearers will be Nephews and cousins.

Dinner and a period of encouragement will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the interment.  The Family will also share with relatives and friends in a time of reflection during this period.
