The Life of Paul Derone Avens, 48
A private viewing for immediate family ONLY will be held Friday, May 1, 2020 at the funeral parlor at 12:30 PM, followed by a public viewing from 1 to 6 PM. No more than 4-members of the family and/or the public will be allowed to enter the building at once due to COVID-19. Please wear your mask and we will be implementing social distancing.
The Graveside Service of Victory will be held Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 11:00 O'Clock AM In The Morning.
Daily Memorial Gardens, 271 Oak Street, Gumberry, NC, Rev. Willese Burnell will deliver the eulogy.
Due to COVID-19, we ask family members that will be attending the service to wear facial masks and to abide by social distancing.
It was at the dawn of Tuesday, April 21, 2020 in Baltimore City, MD that Paul Derone Avens, 48 a former native of Weldon, NC, made his call to rest.
P a ul Derome Avens was born on December 19, 1971 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late Eugene Avens and Roslyn Burnell Boone.
Paul received his early childhood education from the Baltimore Public School System, and continued at Weldon City Schools, Halifax County, NC. He also studied electrical engineering at Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center in Morganfield, Kentucky. Later Paul received his GED at Halifax Community College, Weldon, NC, where his talent for writing was recognized by his instructors.
Paul was an easy going, funny, passionate person who never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends. And he was very proud of his children.
Those to cherish his memories are: His wife: Tamala Ellis Avens of Littleton, NC; Three Sons: Xurious Rivera of Marietta, GA, Paris Betty of Baltimore, MD and Taeron Jacobs of South Carolina; Three-step Children: Andreka Ellis, Alexis Ellis and Randy Ellis all of Littleton, NC; Three Grandchildren: Kanyle Ellis, Jen Ellis, and Ommary Ellis; His Mother and Step Father: Roslyn and Sherman Boone of Garysburg, NC, His Paternal Grandfather: William and wife Fern Burnell of Portsmouth, VA; Two Sisters: Delreesa Mitchell and husband Robbie of Hollister, NC, and Krystle Avens of Raleigh, NC; Four Aunts: Sgt. Wallease Burnell of Newport News, VA, Lavern Burnell of Portsmouth, VA, Zona Carey and husband, Michael of Chesapeake, VA, Gina Robinson and husband Charles of Chapel Hill, NC; Five Uncles: James Avens of Weldon, NC, Billy Burnell of Portsmouth, VA, Timmie Burnell of Durham, NC, Jamie and wife Raye Burnell of Raleigh, NC, and the Late Jerome Harrison Jones and wife Anita of Weldon, NC; some best friends: Shaniqua Rivera and Derrick Mercer, many, many many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Paul will rest in the comfort of Coleman-McGee Funeral Home & Staff...Because WE Care...
