The Life of Odessa Constance Lockhart
Odessa Constance Lockhart was one of eleven children, born on April 13, 1920 in Northampton County, NC to the late Mr. and Mrs.Evangelist Martin Lockhart.
After ninety years on this earth, Odessa said that she wanted to be released fromher pain and allowed to be with the Lord. She said that would make her happy. Therefore, her family place her in hospice care when she could live out her remaining days in dignity and confort. On Sunday, August 29, 2010, the Lord in His infinite wisdom and mercy dispatched an angel to carry Odessa to her eternal rest.
Odessa was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. She accepted Jesus as her Savior early in her life and was baptized at Roanoke Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson, NC. Although she was lifelong resident of Northampton County, NC, Odessa had been living with family members in Wyndmoor, PA since 1999.
Being a woman of strong moral character and faith. Odessa touched the lives of many people in many different ways. She was a very loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin to numerous relatives who will miss her dearly. She had many friends wo whom she was loyal and devoted. She will forever be remembered as a warm, delightful, and generous person.
Odessa leaves to cherish her memories: Three Sisters: Mrs. Virginia Buffaloe of Wyndmoor, PA, Mrs. Evelyn Sledge of Philadelphia, PA, and Mrs. Ella Motley of Philadelphia, PA: One Brother-In-Law: Wilkins Motley, Sr. of Philadelphia, PA; Two Sisters-In-Law: Mrs. Josephine Lockhart of Philadelphia, PA and Mrs. Lemile Lockhart of Garysburg, NC; nieces, nepohews, cousins; and many lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Roanoke Chapel
Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, North Carolina with the Rev. Dr. Franklin D. Williams, Pastor, Officiating. Interment to follow in the Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Garysburg, North Carolina.
