The Life of Mildred Debro, 88

Mother Mildred Debro, affectionately known as "Bit" was born November 7, 1927, in Northampton County, North Carolina to the late Lula Blowe Debro and William Henry Debro.

The youngest of five children, she was preceded in death by her siblings: John, her twin brother, Millard "Bud", Pecolia, and Eugene.

Mildred received her formal education from the Northampton County Public Schools.

At an early age, Mildred confessed faith in Christ and was baptized into membership at First Baptist Church, Halifax, NC. She attended Sunday School faithfully while her health permitted and she sang beautifully in the Senior Choir. In honor of her faithfulness, First Baptist Church installed her as a "Mother of the Church."

Mildred was a hardworker who made many friends along the way. She began her work career at the Convalescent Rest Home in Halifax, NC. She was later employed by the New Yorker Motel. In 1993, she retired from Horne's Motel in Roanoke Rapids, NC after many years of employment.

Blessed with a beautiful voice, Mildred loved to sing praises to the Lord. She always sang at home while doing her chores. At her job, she was known for singing her heart out; especially one of her favorite songs, "Remind Me Dear Lord." She was also a member of the Carrie Harrison Singers.

Mildred departed this life peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Signature Care Healthcare of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
