The Life of Maxine Faison-Hawkins
Graveside Services for Mrs. Maxine Faison-Hawkins, 92 a Halifax County native of the Enfield and Aurelian Springs Areas. She resided at 58 Joynes Rd., Hampton, VA, who died 12-1-2010 in the residence of her grandson Mark Ivey.
Maxine Faison Hawkins of Hampton, Virgina was born to the late Judge and Dora Faison on January 7, 1918 in Littleton, North Carolina. She was married to the late Johnny Hawkins, Sr. They had
three children, Mary Hawkins Ivey, Joesph Hawkins, and the late Johnny Hawkins.
She joined Fountain Baptist Church when she moved to Virginia, and later joined New Mount Olive Baptist Church, which she faithfully supported. Maxine was an active member at each church, and loved to sing. She joined several choirs, choruses and a concert choir.
Maxine worked for Hampton General Hospital for 18 years and retired in 1983.
Maxine Hawkins leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Mary Ivey of Hampton, Va; son, Joseph Hawkins of Portsmouth, Va; her caregiver and grandson, Mary Ivey of Hampton, Va; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces nephews , god-daughter Loester Hardy, and a host of relatives and friends.
This service will be held Thursday, December 9, 2010 in Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Garysburg,NC. with Rev. Darnell Mason, Pastor of Continuing Faith Ministries, Rocky Mount, NC Officiating. The Family will gather at the funeral home prior to leaving for the Graveside Service.
