The Life of Mary Lee Harrison, 85
A private viewing for immediate Family members ONLY will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020, 12:30 PM at the funeral parlor, followed by a public viewing from 1 to 6 PM. Due to Governor Roy Cooper rule number 121 concerning COVID-19, we must use social distancing. Only four people will be allowed to enter the funeral parlor at one time and must be wearing a facial mask.
Graveside Services will be held Sunday, May 31, 2020, 3:30 PM in the Harrison Family Cemetery (directly behind the home house) 4104 US Hwy 301, Pleasant Hill, NC. NOTE: No more than 50-people will be allowed the attend and must be wearing a facial mask. Please check with the immediate family to find out if you are on the list to attend.
Rev. Gregory Evans, Pastor of Faithful Band Missionary Baptist Church, Cornwallis Road, Pleasant Hill, NC, will be the eulogist.
Mary Lee Harrison, the daughter of the late George Brown and Verna Mae Clanton Brown was born September 11, 1934 in Halifax County, North Carolina. Mary received her education at the primary and secondary schools of Northampton County, NC.
Mary was United In Holy Matrimony to the late Paul McKinley Harrison on May 13, 1950 and their union was blessed with six children. At an early age, Mary accepted Christ as her Savior and united in christian fellowship with the Chapel Grove Baptist Church in 1951. In 1987, Mary was baptized and joined the Greater Refuge Temple Church in New York, NY. Since returning home, Mary joined Faithful Band Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Gregory Evans of whom she loved and admired.
In 1954, Mary, Paul and their four children moved to the Bronx, NY where they were blessed with two additional children and lived for 40 years. Mary worked for the White Castle Corporation for 25 years as store Supervisor. In 1994 under the advisement of her husband, they both retired and moved back to Pleasant Hill, NC.
Mary will be remembered doing what she loved best in her later years, her favorite past time was sitting at home in her love seat or laying in bed cuddled up with her second love ( remote control) and strolling down memory lane watching (T.V. Westerns).
In addition to her parents, husband and siblings, Mary was preceded in death by her three daughters: Evelyn Harrison, Janice Weathers and Carolyn Harrison, a grandson: John P. Harrison and one granddaughter Crystal Keene. In the serenity of her home, Mary peacefully transitioned into eternal rest after 85 years of loyalty of God, family and mankind on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
Mary is survived by her Two Sons: Johnny Paul and Kenneth Harrison both of the home; One Daughter: Linda Harrison of Pleasant Hill, NC, Two Foster Daughters: Linda Strong, of Staten Island, NY and Michele Johnson, of Bronx, NY; Eleven Grandchildren; Twenty-One Great-Grand Children and One Great-Great Grandchild; Five sisters: Ruby Watson, of Rocky Mt, NC, Fannie Kee and husband Lewis of Jackson, NC, Minnie Moody of Pleasant Hill, NC, Brenda Brown, of Charlotte NC, Iris Jerman and husband Wilkins of Bronx, NY; a very special Niece: Patricia Ann Jones of Maryland: One Brother: Melvin D. Brown,of Brick, NJ; a very Special Friend: Bishop Curtis C Ransom, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives church family and many friends.
