The Life of Mary Banks, 66
While viewing at the funeral parlor, a facial mask or covering must be worn and you must sanitize your hands, when entering the facility. We must be safe for each other.
There will only be: A private viewing for the children, grandchildren and siblings will be held Monday, December 6, 2021, 12:30 PM at the funeral parlor followed by a public viewing from 1:00 to 5:00 PM
Mary Elizabeth Banks, 67, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jackson, N.C.
Mary, the daughter of the late Henry Banks and the late Essie Mae Mills, was born on November 1, 1954 in Norfolk, Va.
Mary was educated in the Northampton County School System, attended Campbell- Mitchell Hairstyling Academy and worked at New Image Hair Salon for a number of years. In her latter years Mary was employed at Quality Cleaners where she remained until retirement.
Mary is preceded in death by two sisters: Hattie Mae Banks and Joyce Davis, and one brother: Willie R. Banks.
Treasuring her memories are two children: Laurice "Champ" Hawkins, and Felicia Artis, both of Roanoke Rapids, N.C; Nine Grandchildren, Two Great Grandchildren; her valued friend and companion: Calvin Broady, also of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; seven brothers: her twin, Jeremiah Banks, of Silver Springs, MD, Rufus Banks and Gregory Banks both of Garysburg, NC, Latimore Banks of Rocky Mount, NC, Alvin Banks and wife Val of Raleigh, NC, William Henry Banks and Marcus Banks and wife Tammy Of Durham, NC; nine sisters: Margaret Lowe and husband Coleman, and Essie Banks both of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Gloria Hagan and husband Lorenzo of Garysburg, NC, Helen Jackson of Arverne, NY, Sheila Banks Of Gumberry, NC, Carolyn Kee, Evelyn Davis, Janie Bright and husband Willie Joe, and Henrietta Scott and husband Lance all of Durham, NC; two uncles: Alfred Clements and wife Dean of Philadelphia, PA, and Archie Clements of Roanoke Rapids, NC; one aunt: Novalene Jagoe of Norfolk, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mary, widely and fondly known as "Leah" was much loved, with a sweet spirit, and never considered anyone a stranger.
We; Mary's family, have come to realize that "We should love the people God gave us because he will need them back one day." He brings them here for a season; but never to stay….love you much Mary; your family.
