The Life of Mrs. Mamie Virginia Moody-Banks, 94

Mrs. Mamie Virginia Banks, 94 of 3706 Lawson St. Richmond, Va and formerly of Northampton County, North Carolina, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 in her residence.

Mamie Virginia Moody Banks was born December 21, 1917 in Greenville County Virginia to the late Clarence and Lena Moody. She was the oldest of nine children. She departed this life January 29, 2012 in the home of her youngest daughter, Mary Rawlings of Richmond, Va.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Eddie Lewis Banks. God truly blessed this union with eight children. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, a great sister, a caring grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Her education was obtained through the public schools in Greenville County.

At a very early age she was taught the way of Christian living, confessed faith in God's Son and became a member of the Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to the Rising Sun Holiness Church. She worked as a faithful member in the church until her health failed. She loved the Lord with all her heart and believed in reading the Word of God faithfully. She loved to show hospitality to everyone.

Husband: Eddie Lewis Banks; four children: Maggie Banks Mangum, Robert Banks, Moses Banks and Curtis Banks; two sisters: Elise Moody Drumgold and Rosa Lee Banks Turner; four brothers: Stewart Moody, Millard Moody, Johnnie Moody and Clarence Banks all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish the memories of her love: a devoted daughter, Mary Rawlings and son Wilbert Green Banks of the home; sons: James Arthur Banks of Richmond, Va. and Edward Banks and wife Bessie of Roanoke Rapids, NC. One sister: Lucy Banks Roberts and husband Johnnie; One brother: James Lewis "Jack" Banks of Gaston, NC; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great
grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; Shantea Reyes, a loving and caring caregiver for the past three years.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Rising Sun Holiness Church, Chaptman Road, Emporia, VA, with Co-Pastor Josephine Kee-Easter Officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A private family viewing will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 at 12:30 pm at Coleman Funeral Home will a public viewing from 1 to 7 pm.
