The Life of Mrs. Lula Bradley Bennett, 79

Lula Bradley Bennett, 79 of Garysburg, NC, expired Monday, August 22, 2016 around 4:16 AM at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Lula was born May 18, 1937 to Marion and Helen Bradley in Halifax County, North Carolina and was introduced to Jesus Christ at an early age.

Early in life, she was a member of Quankey Baptist Church, where she served until she relocated to New Jersey. While in New Jersey, she worshiped at Saint Mark's Baptist Church, New Jersey. Moving back to North Carolina, she joined Shearins Chapel Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Her final worship home was Community Missionary Baptist Church, Weldon, North Carolina.

Lula battled her illness for many years, but always welcomed family and friends and enjoyed being with her family. She touched so many lives with her comedy and generosity.

One of her great enjoyments in life was spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grand-children. Grandson: Deryck Bennett, and her Granddaughters: Tami Stokes and her best friend/youngest Granddaughter/her "Pooh Pooh" Triana Phillips. Her Great- Granddaughter/in house nurse/her "Cutie" Yazmeen Manley and Her Great- Grandson/assistant outdoors-man/her "Brownie" Saquan Manley. She could talk about these kids all day long without getting tried.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years: Sam Bennett, Jr., Marion Bradley and Helen Bradley (father and mother), Sam Bennett, III (son), Sandra Bennett-Marshall (daughter), Christopher Bennett (grandson), Betsey Ford (sister), Marion Bradley, Jr., (brother), Virginia Pierce (sister), Hollis Bradley (brother).

Those left to cherish her fond memories are: Two Daughters: Lori Bennett-Arrington and husband Cedric of Halifax, North Carolina, and Audrea Bennett of Garysburg, North Carolina; Two Grandaughters: Tami K. Stokes and Triana Phillips both of Garysburg, North Carolina; One Grandson: Deryck D. Bennett of the home; Her Sisters: Mary Craddock of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Coretha Bradley of Weldon, North Carolina, Helen Grant, Elaine Bradley and Pattie Ransome; Her Brothers: Mason Bradley, Wilson Bradley and wife Barbara of Irvington, New Jersey and Rev. Raymond Bradley and wife Pearline of Weldon, North Carolina; She had several children that she called her own: Two Adopted Daughters: Sandra K. Kee of Cary, North Carolina and Shawanda Harding of Gaston North Carolina; One Adopted Son: Tony Cooke of Louisburg, North Carolina, Two Adopted Grandchildren: Brittany High and Jamarus Rooks both of Garysburg, North Carolina. It was no secret that she loved all her nieces and nephews and her great nieces and nephews, but she absolutely adored Bridgette. The bond they had was undeniable. They had their own nicknames for each other and no matter how ill she appeared to be, she could always find strength to pick at Bridgette, when she saw her. She could laugh for hours, but when Bo, Cookie or Rock was around and when referencing great memories from the past, she always mentioned Phyllis, Gwen, Bernice and her best friend, Blondie.
