A private viewing for her children (spouses) and grandchildren will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021, 12:30 In The Afternoon at the funeral parlor. There will be a public viewing from 2:00 to 6:00 O'Clock PM.
Only 4-people will be allowed to enter the funeral parlor at a time and a facial covering must be worn. You will be asked to sanitize your hands when you enter, for the protection of all, due to the COVID-19.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 17, 2021, 1:00 O'Clock In The Afternoon, Coleman-McGee Funeral Home Front Lawn. Dr. Franklin Williams, her Pastor will deliver the eulogy of life.
Pall Bearers will be Grandsons - Floral Attendants will be Granddaughters
Mother Lucille Virginia Rawls Hardy was born November 25, 1919 in the township of Occoneechee Neck located in Jackson, N.C. Her parents were the late William and Lucy Rawls. Lucille joined Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at the age of ten years old and remained a faithful member until the end. She graduated from Northampton County Training School, Garysburg, NC and attended Bricks Institute of Bricks, Whitakers, N.C.
Mother Lucille served as Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church organist for over 70 years. She loved playing the organ and piano and she was faithful until she left to be with the Lord. She loved her church, choir and was a lover of hymns, spirituals and gospel songs. Her favorite hymns were, "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross," and "Pass Me Not Oh Gentle Savior." She enjoyed her gifts of God, which was playing music on the piano, and she used it wisely and faithfully. She loved Sunday school, attended every Sunday, and was always on time. Mother Lucille's favorite scripture was the 23 rd Psalms.
On July 25, 1942, Lucille married the late Elmer Payne Hardy, who departed this world on March 25, 1975 and during their union, the Lord blessed them with nine loving children: Phyllis Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Carol Watson and husband James of Bronx, NY, Marvin Hardy and wife Kimberly of Greenville, NC, Robert Hardy of Washington, DC, Ervin Hardy of Atlanta, GA, Shelby Phillips of Jackson, NC, and Carmen Gibson and husband Milton of Atlanta, GA; one Daughter-In-Law: Ms. Maggie Hardy and a Son-In-Law: John Thompson; Twenty-One Grandchildren, Twenty-Two Great Grandchildren, Nineteen Great Great Grandchildren, and a very special friend: Leslie Harvey, along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives, church family and friends.
Preceding her in death are her daughter: May D. Thompson and her son: Elmer "Ray" Hardy.
Mother Lucille shared her gift of music with many churches to include her beloved Roanoke Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Boone's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Hill's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Gaston Missionary Baptist Church and St. John's Missionary Baptist Church and many others. She also trained numerous musical students over the years.
The death angel has once again appeared to take our beloved, Mother Lucille Virginia Rawles Hardy, 101 of Jackson, NC to receive her crown. Mother Hardy expired in the early morning of Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 05:01 AM in Vidant North Hospital, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
