The Life of Ms. Lola Mae Johnson Turner, 86
Sis. Lola expired Thursday, February 27, 2014 in Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, NC. She was born October 3, 1927 to the late George and Hattie Spears-Johnson in Halifax County, NC.
She attended the public schools in Halifax County, NC.
Sis. Lola joined New Jerusalem Holiness Church, Garysburg, NC under the leadership of the late Mother Lillie Williams and remained a member until her demise. Her failing health prevented her from attending church, but she kept her church family close to her heart.
On May 9, 1959, Lola was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Matthew Turner in Emporia, VA. She was the mother of a child who died stillborn.
She was married for 39 years to the late Matthew Turner.
One sister Eleanor Marie Johnson Marshall and one brother George Preston preceded her in death.
Those left are: one niece: Cynthia Lassiter of Brooklyn, NY; three great nephews: Jemal, Demark and Preston; a great niece: Keonannette; a special Sister-In-law: Mindel Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; her god-children: Blenda Young, Thomas Young, Jr. and Teanna Young all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a care taker of many years: Rudolph Peterson; three devoted cousins: Joyce A. Rainey, George Rainey and Linda Pierce both of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Sisters-In-Law, Brothers-In-Law, many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, saints and friends.
Funeral arrangements for Ms. Lola Mae Johnson Turner, 86-of 3747 Three Bridges Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at New Jerusalem Holiness Church in Garysburg, North Carolina. The time for the service is 1:00 p.m. Bishop Geanie Perry will give the Eulogy.
There will be a private immediate family viewing Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. A public viewing will follow from 1 to 4 p.m.
