The Life of Mrs. Lillie Bell Turner, 70
Lillie B. Turner, affectionately known as "Sister" was born April 6, 1943 to the late William and Lula Mae Fields in Brunswick County, Virginia.
She received her education in Brunswick County, Virginia and Northampton County, North Carolina.
At an early age, she confessed faith in Christ and joined Gaston Baptist Church. She later joined Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church and attended until her health stopped her from attending.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her own children as well as many others.
She was employed at Heilig Meyers Funiture Company as a maid. She became such a great supporting saleslady that her manager offered her a sales position. She accepted that position and excelled as number one or two every month, which she was very proud of.
Lillie was the first black Queen for a Day for top sales, where she was treated like royalty, showered with money gifts, and shopping sprees. She retired from Heilig Meyers after 27 years of service and moved back home to Henrico, North Carolina.
Peacefully, she went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Everyone that knew her, loved her and the love will forever be cherished by her children: one son; Robert Junior Turner of Henrico, NC; three daughters: Christine Turner of Richmond, VA, Cheryl Denise Haskins and husband Kenneth Haskins of Gaston, NC and Kim Thomas of Suitland, MD; Eight grandchildren: Marcia D.
