The Life of Mr. Leon Ar'kee Chambliss, 59

Mr. Leon Ar'Kee "ButterBall" Chambliss, 59 departed his earthly life on August 23, 2012 in McGuire Veterans Medical Center, Richmond, VA. He was born on April 28, 1953 in Bracey, VA to the late Early Cephus and Bessie Mae Walker-Chambliss.

He was educated in the public schools in the state of Virginia. Mr. Chambliss later joined the U.S. Army and was discharged with a Honorable Discharge August 3, 1973.

At an early age, he joined S. I. Edwards Memorial in Richmond, VA, and later branched off to the Roanoke Rapids Mission headed by his Mother; Bessie Mae Chambliss.

Mr. Chambliss was employed by S.T. Wooten for many years and worked in many different capacities.

He was married to Natalie Drayton and to this union seven children were born.

Always a devoted husband and father, Leon leaves not to mourn but to cherish his memories; his wife: Apostle Natalie Chambliss of the home; his children: Robert William Foster and wife Linda of Georgia, Lorenzo Anthony Foster and wife Felicia also of Georgia, David Alonzo Foster and wife Donna of Georgia, Mizor John Alli and wife Veronica of Georgia, Charlene Valerie Boyette and husband Anthony, Goldsboro, NC, Sharnette Larice Foster and husband Emmanuel, Rocky Mount, NC, Diah Octavia Hilgendorf and husband Stewart of Florida and Ronda Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, NC; 23-Grandchildren; 19-Great Grandchildren (one preceded him in death); his sisters and brothers: James Chambliss and wife Fannie, Richmond, VA,John Chambliss and wife Francine of Richmond, VA, Jesse Chambliss and wife Betty both of Richmond, VA, Lindburg Chambliss of Mass., Dorethia Beacon, Bracey, VA, Lethia Valentine, Richmond, VA, Bessie Joyner of Roanoke Rapids, NC and one brother Larry Chambliss who preceded him in death; an abundance of nieces, nephews, other relatives, cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be Monday, August 27, 2012 at 12 High Noon in Coleman Funeral Home Chapel, 776 Hwy 301 N. Garysburg, NC.

Prophet Jarvis Brown of King of King and Lord of Lord Ministeries will be officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

There will be a private immediate family viewing Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. A public viewing will be held from 1 to 7 pm.
