Forever In Our Hearts: The Life of  KEITH VARRON SLEDGE, 63

There will be a private viewing for immediate family ONLY (brothers. sister and his two aunts) Tuesday, February 20, 2024,. 1:30 PM at the funeral parlor, followed by a public viewing from 2 to 5 PM

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 21, 2024, 12:00  O' Clock High Noon, Community Church of Christ #2, Hwy 48, Roanoke Rapids, NC

Rev. Christopher Mallory will be the eulogist.

Mr. Keith Varron Sledge, son of the late Margaret "Peggy" Sledge and Mr. Bobby Webb was born November 19, 1960 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was the oldest of five children. Keith was educated in Halifax County School System and was a 1979 graduate of Northwest Halifax High School. Keith received a Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Upon returning home, Keith worked in the Halifax County School System, then with the late Mr. and Mrs. Deese as a handyman; lastly in the Greenhouse at Halifax County Community College.

Keith professed his love for Christ and attended  Community Church in Christ #2 under the guidance of Elder Arthur Graham.

Affectionally known, Jack Snapper, Keith never met a stranger, and to his loved ones created special "nicknames." For example, Miillaw was "Snatch, and her twin, Lamont was "Hatch", Jenelle was "Pretty girl", Micaiah was "Scrolly". Keith loved fishing, gardening, raising dogs. Keith loved participating in local shows; and was a jokester.

Keith Varron Sledge, quietly departed this life on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at home. Keith is preceded in death by his brother, Nikki Sledge, and mother, Margaret "Peggy" Sledge.

Keith's best friend, Willie "Coleslaw" Purnell of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina also preceded him in death.

His beautiful life will be forever remembered by Brothers:  Zyrl Sledge and fiance' Stephanie, of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Tyrl Sledge and wife Tracey of Raleigh, NC.; Sister: Tanice Alston of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Aunt and Second Mother:  Evangelist Ella Baker, His Wonderful Aunt:  Mrs. Ellen Ann Rawls of Emporia, Virginia, cousins, William Baker, Sr. and wife Nicole,  Sylvia Robinson  and husband William, and Trevii Baker  and wife Pation, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and a host of supportive nieces, nephews, other relatives, cousins and friends.

Keith is also survived by his former wife:  Ms. Eartie Pittman Sledge; Her Sons: Lawrence Pittman  and wife Karol, and Karl Pittman  and wife Maria, Ken Pittman  and wife Ann, and her daughters, Terry Tillery and fiance' Ben and Mary Rook and husband Lewis.

Farewell

You slipped away. You didn't say goodbye. We didn't laugh. We just became sad. We miss your smile, jokes, laughs, singing, cooking, and harmonica playing.
