The Life of Julius Ray Pittman
Wheras Almight God in His infinite wisdom has seen fit to call from our midst, Julius Pittman (affectionately know as June Bug), who departed this life on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his home. With gratitude in our hearts for the time the Lord allowed us to share in his life, we set aside this day to remember him.
Born and reared in Whitakers, NC on November 21, 1947, Julius was preceded in death by his father, Butler Pittman, Sr. and survived by his mother, Mary Pittman. He was the sixth of their eleven children. He attended Phillips High School and later moved to Washington, DC where he met, fell in love and married Elzoria Lawrence, from this union they were blessed to have two children, Julena and Elzoria Pittman.
Julius was employed at the Republic National Distributing Company for 18 years and he attened American Unity Seventh Day Commandment Church in Cedar Heights, MC with his family. He was a trusted friend to a number of people and was best known for his kind heart, helping hand and his unconditional love which he frely shared. It would be almost impossible to list the people he touched during his lifetime. His warm simle and pleasant attitude will be missed.
He leaves to celebrate his life, Elzoria Pittman, his wife of 33 yers and five children: Terry West, Julena Pittman, Elzoria Pittman, Trivis Plunkett (stepson) and Aree Plunkett (step-daughter); six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven sisters and three brothers: Sarah Worsley of Landover, MD, Mary Lou Pittman of Washington, DC, Rosa Davis (Herman)of Temple Hills, MD, Ellen Pittman of Temple Hills, MD, Hazel Lucas, Carrie Ann Harris and Carolyn Brown all of Rocky Mount, NC,Butler Pittman, Jr. of Whitakers, NC, Larry Pittman (Cynthia)of Elm City, NC, Roger Pittman of Whitakers, NC, Three Sisters-In-Law: Dorothea Lawrence, Laverne Curry and Coretha Lawrence all of Washington, DC, One Brother-In-Law: Clyde Lawrence of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to include his church family.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 at 1pm with a viewing at 11am at the Greater St. Mark Baptist Church, 4777 Speight Chapel Road, Whitakers, NC with Pastor Kenley Parker Officiating.
