The Life of Mrs. Joyce Elaine Davis, 58
Joyce was born on November 21, 1955 in Northampton County, NC to Bessie Claboine and the late William Henry Massenburg. She departed to glory on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at UNC-Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC.
Joyce attended Northampton County Public Schools and graduated from Gumberry High School, Gumberry, NC.
She accepted Christ as her Divine Savior and was renewed a new birth
in Christ and joined Evangelistic Church of Deliverance, Weldon, NC at an early age.
Joyce places of employment included: Airmold, Ralph Bar-B-Que and Fox Bakery.
On December 27, 1973, Joyce was united in Holy Matrimony to Edward Davis, Sr. This union was blessed with three children: Orson, Edward Jr. and Jacqueline.
Those that will live her memories out are: her husband: Edward Davis, Sr. of the home, her children: Orson Davis, Garysburg, NC, Edward J. Davis, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Jacqueline E. Robinson and husband Cedric of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Four Grandchildren: ShonDeiga R. Davis, Leila Willis, Jacelyn Davis and Anaid Willis; Her Lovely Mother: Mother Bessie Claboine-Vinson of Garysburg, NC, Two Brothers: William Earl Massenburg and wife Georgia, Hampton, VA and Darrell Massenburg of Garysburg, NC; Three Aunts: Maude Jacque of Rochester, NY, Maxine Claboine of Garysburg, NC and Lula M. Massenburg, Brooklyn, NY; Two Uncles: Edward Claboine and wife Pauline of Rochester, NY and James Claboine and wife Shirley also of Rochester, NY; Her Sisters-In-Law: Ruth D. Allen, Roanoke Rapids, NC, Kathryn Davis, Manassas Park, VA, Winnie Davis of Garysburg, NC, Margaret Thomas and husband Clemon, Douglasville, GA; Anne Fuller, Lafayette, LA; and Winnie Davis of Garysburg, NC; her Brothers-in-law: Robert Davis and wife Bettie of Greensboro, NC and Tommy Davis also of Greensboro,NC; A special cousin: Corey Banks; her close friends: Sylvia Ramsey, Evelyn Clark, Gail Scott, Janie Cameron and Barbara S. Williams and husband Clarence; a host of other relatives, cousins, friends and church friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014, 2:00 In The Afternoon at Evangelistic Church of Deliverance, Weldon, NC. Bishop William H. Cheek, Sr. her Pastor will Eulogize her. Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery, Gumberry, NC.
Floral Bearers and Pall Bearers will be Family and Friends.
The funeral cortege will leave headed to the church at 12:15 PM on the day of her service.
A private immediate family viewing will be held Wednesday, October 15th at 12:30 In The Afternoon at the funeral parlor and a public viewing will follow from 1-6 PM.
