The Life of Mr. Johnny Harrison, 87
Mr. Johnny Harrison, 87 of 314 W. Roanoke St., Richmond, VA passed Thursday, May 10, 2012 in his residence.
Mr. Johnny was the son of the late James & Lizzie Harrison of Jackson, NC born April 22, 1925.
He was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. At a very early age he joined the Piney Grove Baptist Church under the late Rev. McKinley Nichelson.
In 1946 he was United in Holy Matrimony with the late Betty Rose Edmond, of this union seven children were born. Johnny moved to Richmond, VA in 1965 this is when he met the late Pecolia, who later joined him in marriage in 1991.
Johnny was a long distance truck driver during his younger years, in addition, he was a brick layer for many years. He retired in l991.
He leaves to cherish his memories; three daughters: Audrey Rascoe and husband Raymond, Newark, NJ, Rebecca Mason, Newark, NJ, Alice Gomez, Lancaster, CA; one son: Johnny Harrison, Jr., Richmond, VA; one stepdaughter: Alzenia Epps, Newark, NJ; one step son: Herculiegh and wife Gloria of North Carolina; thirty-one grandchildren, sixty-seven great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, A very special niece: Yvonne Deloatch, A very special nephew: Steven Harrison and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, cousins and friends.
Johnny is the last of James and Lizzie seven children to depart this world. In addition, he was preceded in death by his wife and ex-wife: Pecolia and Betty Harrison, two daughters: Mary Ann Mason and Betty Perry, and one son: Percy Harrison.
Johnny was loved and respected by most and will truly be missed by his children and loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 - 1:00 pm at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Jackson, NC with the Pastor Rev. Timothy Edwards, Officiating.
The burial will follow in the church cemetery beside his late Pecolia.
There will be a private immediate family viewing Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 12:30 pm at the funeral parlor with a public viewing from 1 to 7 pm.
The Family request a line up at the funeral parlor on Monday for the funeral.
