The Life and Legacy of Mr. John Thomas Parker, 74

Funeral Rites will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, 11:00 In The Morning, Jerusalem Baptist Church, 12492 Kientz Rd., Jarratt, Virginia, Rev. Larry Nash of Norfolk, Virginia will be the eulogist.

The siblings of Mr. John T. Parker would like for all family and friends to meet at the church for the service for the funeral procession.


Life is sweet and calm, and the home is sweet on the other side for Mr. John Thomas Parker, 74 of Ayden, North Carolina. Mr. Parker expired Friday, February 2, 2018 in the comfort of his home in Ayden.

John Thomas Parker AKA "Toady", a devoted loving brother, uncle and friend, was born the eldest son of the late John W. and Rebecca M. Parker on April 10, 1943 in Sussex County, Virginia.

At an early age, John was baptized and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jarratt, Virginia. He attended Sussex Central High School, graduated from Ayden High School, Ayden, North Carolina, and attended (UNLV) Las Vegas, Nevada.

John served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). While in the Air Force he was stationed overseas most of his career. He was stationed in England, Spain, and Germany. At these stations, he played on the Base Football Team.

He enjoyed programming, computers, sports, and solitude. He was a very private person, unique, and tri-lingual. He spoke German, Spanish, and English, fluent in all three. Growing up he often played alone.

John leaves to cherish his memories:  Two Sisters:  Rebecca Parker-Hamlette and Gloria Parker; Two Brothers:  Samuel Parker and Anthony Parker  and wife Loretta. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased his death are two sisters Hazel D. Parker and Jacquelyn Macklin.
