The Life of Mr. Jerome Short, 59

A private viewing will be held for immediate family ONLY, Friday, August 28, 2020,  12:30 PM at Coleman-McGee Funeral Home. There will be a public viewing from 1 to 6 PM.

Graveside Services will be Saturday, August 29, 2020, 11:00 In The Morning, Lillie's Chapel Cemetery, Garysburg, NC, Bishop Ernest Brown will officiate.

Please check will the immediate family to see if you are invited to attend. No more than 50 people could be in attendance including our staff and program participants. You MUST wear a facial mask and conduct social distancing. ONLY four people will be allowed to enter the funeral parlor at a time.

Jerome Short, the son of the late James Arthur Short and Odell Mangrum, was born on August 1, 1961 in Northampton County, NC. He departed this earthly life on August 24, 2020 at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA. He received his education through Northampton County Public Schools.  Proceeding him in death are his Paternal Grandparent: Thelma Short and His Maternal Grandparents: Lloyd Powell and Pastor Woodrow and Virginia Short.

"Romie" and "Shawt Dog" as He was affectionately known, enjoyed spending time with family, friends and loved to laugh.  Jerome had a laid-back demeanor, if He was in the room, you would surely know that He was there. His life was lived on his own terms and was not afraid to take the road less traveled.

Jerome leaves to cherish His memories;  Two sons:  Dante Short of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Montreal Peebles and wife Valerie of Weldon, NC; Five Grandchildren: Anyree, Taevon, Danaya, Damiya and Tristian; His Stepfather: Eddie L. Mangrum of Gaston, NC; Five Siblings: Arthur Short and wife Cheryl of Enfield, NC, Angela Horton of Raleigh, NC, David Green and wife Linette of Dallas, GA; Lashelle Mangrum of Durham, NC, and Eddie J. Mangrum of Raleigh, NC; His loving Nieces and nephews: Monique, Tenika, LaShonda, Montega, Jessica, DJ, Lameisha, Mason, and Zoie; His first cousins: Carolyn Patillo, Bernice Fields, Solomon Patillo, and Buddy Mason. A special friend; Priscilla Rice and a host of great nieces, cousins, other In-Laws and friends.
