The Life of Mrs. Janie Jones Harris, 85

Janie Jones Harris was born on August 28, 1926 to the late Herman Jones and Daisy Hill-Jones of Jackson, NC.

She attended the Northampton County School System to get her education.

In her teen years, she met and grew up with Robert Lee Harris, who later became her life-long sweetheart and husband. To this union, eight children were born and one was adopted.

Janie's occupation was a waitress at Howard Johnson Resturant and she was also a caretaker for several years.

Janie joined the Antioch Baptist church at a very early age. She was a dedicated member until her illness prevented her from serving. She served as Mother of the Church, Choir Treasurer and sang in the Choir for many years. Janie was a faithful member who truly loved her church and pastor.

Her favorite song was "My Last Trip." She would always sang, "When I have gone my last mile, What a trip that would be, When I take my vacation to heaven-heaven on high, What a wonderful trip that would be."

Peacefully praising her Lord, she departed this life on Monday, November 21, 2011, at 18 Halpine Street, Paterson, NJ.

Janie was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt and friend to all.

Janie was preceded in death by her husband: Robert, one daughter: Elnora Mason, three sons: William H. Jones, Henry T. Harris, and Rosevelt Davis, Jr., three sisters: Ruth Moody, Hilda Maggette, and Lillie Mae Green, a brother: David Lee Jones. and one daughter-in-law: Sandra Harris.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter; Clarine H. Mullen of Paterson, NJ; four sons: Robert Lee Harris, Jr. of Paterson, NJ; James Harris and wife Louise of Enfield, NC, Clearence Harris and wife Gracie of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Micheal "Mack" Harris and wife Betty of Gaston, NC, Thirty-One: Grandchildren, Ninety-One: Great-Grandchildren, Ten: Great-Great-Grandchildren, a daughter-in-law: Virginia Jones of Jackson,NC and a son-in-law: James Mason of Jackson, NC and a host of nieces nephews, cousins ,other relatives, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 4110 Bryantown Rd., Jackson, NC.

Rev. Bassil Williams, the Pastor will be presiding and Rev. Robert L. Knight will Officiate.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery and there will be a repast following the burial in the church dining hall.

There will be a private viewing for the family Friday, December 2, 2011 at 12:30 pm and a public viewing from 1 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
