The Life of MR. JAMES LOUIS PIERCE, 66
James Louis Pierce,66, departed this life on November 20, 2015 to receive his just reward at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
James Louis as known as by many, was born March 29, 1949, the 7th child of William Jasper and Betsy Wade-Pierce and the last surviving sibling of Brothers--Elliot Jasper, Andrew Lee, Billy Ross, Prince Albert, John Robert, Melvin Anthony and Gene Autry and Sisters---Lucille and Cozy Jane.
James Louis was educated in Halifax County School System, where he completed the 10th grade. He joined Lebanon Baptist Church, Darlington, NC, at an early age, because Grandma Nancy Lynch Pierce took him and other relatives to church often. He then joined Job Corps and became a Heavy Equipment Operator. He also worked for Miller & Long, Cardinal Concrete Corporation, John W. Driggs and Capital Paving. He finally retired from Cardinal Concrete Corporation. All of these companies were in the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia areas.
He married Ruby Goodwin and from this union two sons were born--Ricky and Jimmy. His wife-Ruby and son-Jimmy both preceded him in death.
Once James returned from Detroit, MI, he shared lots of memories with his cousins, nephews, nieces, special friends and others. They had time to get together and reminisce about old times, laughed and joked with each other, told numerous stories from way back when, plenty of good food to cook and eat, of course all claimed they could out cook each other, fussed, fight, etc.
In the last few weeks of his life, he was hospitalized at Wake Medical Hospital, Raleigh, NC until he was strong enough to return home for the last time.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His Son: Ricky Goodwin of Washington, DC; His Grandchildren: Rikiya Rogers, Rickey Rogers and Dashawn Brown, all of Washington, DC; Sisters-In-Law: Gwendolyn Pierce Womack, Lucy Rae Pierce, Iris Pierce, Diane Pierce, Dorothy Pierce and Anna Baker; Nephews and Nieces: William Elliot, Katheryn Pierce Fletcher, Andrew Patrick Pierce, Barbara Ann Pierce, Harold Thomas Pierce, Lyle Stanley Pierce, Chrystal Pierce Peede, Anthony Patrick, Roderick Wade, Francis Jennifer, Antione Pierre Pierce, Princess Pierce, Mary Lee Pierce, Johnny Pierce, Clifton Pierce, Reggie Pierce, Tameka Pierce, Kimberly Pierce, Lewis McKoy, Jr., William McKoy, David Ballard, Melvin Anthony Pierce, Jr., Sharon Pierce, Darlene Pierce, Dana Pierce and A Special Cousin: Alphonso Pierce; Great and Great-Great-Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, other Relatives and Friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 O'Clock High Noon, Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Coleman Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Richard A. Powell, Pastor of Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Darlington, NC will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Halifax, NC.
There will be a private immediate family viewing Friday, November 27, 2015 at 12:30 at the funeral parlor with a public viewing from 1 to 6 PM.
Floral Attendants will be nieces and Pall Bearers will be nephews.
The Family are receiving family and friends at 700 Little Deep Creek Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC. The funeral cortege will be lining up from this address leaving headed to the funeral parlor at 10:30 AM.
