Obituary

The Life of Evelyn Moody Davis, 83

There will be a private viewing for Mrs. Davis, Friday, February 28, 2020, 12:30 PM at Coleman-McGee Funeral Home, followed by a public viewing from

1 to 6 PM.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February, 29, 2020, at 12:00 O'Clock High Noon, Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church, Gaston, NC.

Bishop Wayne I. Welch, Pastor will deliver the eulogy.

Floral Attendants will be Nieces and Friends; Pall Bearers will be Grandson, Nephews and Friends.

Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

The Family will be receiving family and friends at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Linwood and Inell Moody Squire in Gaston, NC.

Evelyn Moody Davis the fifth child of eight, born on September 10, 1936 to the late Charlie and Rena Garner Moody in Northampton County, NC. Evelyn was called to be with God on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois following a rapid decline in health.

Evelyn attended the public schools of Northampton County, NC.

Before moving to Illinois, Evelyn worked for J.P. Stevens Textile Mill as a loom tech. She retired from North Chicago Veterans Hospital after 25 years of Civil Service as a Dietician's Aide in 1997.

On June 26, 1955, Evelyn was united in marriage to James Rudolph Davis and was blessed in this union with two children: Danny and Janice.

In addition to her late parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by Her Son: Danny S. Davis; Sisters: Ollie Richards and Fleater DeVaux; Brothers: Henry Moody, Herbert Moody and Clyde Moody.

Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother. Everyone she knew described her as a "sweet and calm" lady. Before moving to Illinois, she could be counted on to perform pediatric dentistry for removing the baby teeth of nieces, nephews and any neighborhood children needing her assistance. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her loving Husband of 64 years: James of North Chicago, IL; Her dedicated Daughter: Janice Hayes of North Chicago; Grandson: James Rudolph "J.R" Hayes of Chesapeake, VA; Her Sister: Inell and brother-in-law Linwood Squire of Gaston, NC; Her Sister: Velvet Moody of Gaston, NC; Sister-In- Laws: Mattie Moody of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Mattie Sue Hicks of Durham, NC and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
