Queen Alice Sessoms, the daughter of the late Joe Henry Sessoms Sr. and the late Ida Mady Chambliss Sessoms. Queen Alice was born on April 29, 1928, in The Isle of Wright County in Franklin, Virginia. She attended the public schools in Franklin, Virginia, and obtained her elementary and high school education before continuing to receive an associate degree in nursing.

At 26, Queen welcomed a new addition to her family, a son Ronald Lee Sessoms.  As a young working mother, she felt the need for spiritual strength.  She started attending church with her friend Louise Hughes.  Missionary Louise Hughes carried on the services in a mission for the Late Mother Lillie Williams from Garysburg, NC.  The Gospel Tabernacle Church was located in Portsmouth, Virginia where Queen Alice heard the word of God preached and wanted to be like the saints. She learned that God would bless you and satisfy your longing soul.

The late Mother Williams had just built a new Rest Home for the Elderly and sought someone to manage the facility.  MIssionary Louise Hughes introduced Queen to her pastor and recommended her as someone that could be of help to her in North Carolina.  The late Mother Williams asked Queen to come and manage the Rest Home and she accepted the job.  She relocated with her son Ronald to Garysburg, NC.

The saints helped her watch out for her son while she took care of the Rest Home and cooked for the employees that worked for the church on the farm and other odd jobs that went along with the church's business.  Queen was the National Cook for AFCOGG, Inc. for over 40 years.  Queen catered for many churches in the community and other social events before retiring from the busy life of caring for others. She loved God and her neighbors as herself and she often said it was a joy to serve others.

Queen departed this life peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in her home at 100 Madison St. Garysburg, NC.

Queen leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Ronald Lee Sessoms, (Joyce) of Garysburg, NC, a Granddaughter, Melissa Squire of Durham, NC, Grandson, Lamonta Brown of New Port News, Virginia,  Great Grandson, Damien Squire, Marissa Collins (Torian Collins) of Durham, NC, Dominique Squire of Greenville, NC.  Grand Children in laws: Karen Bell (Mark) Joy Bell, of Charlotte, NC Great Grands Mark Bell Jr. Madison Flowers, Bryce Boyd, Brenton Boyd, Braxton Boyd all of Charlotte, NC.
