Doris will lie in state at First Baptist Missionary Church, 3rd Street, Weldon, NC, at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 27, 2024 until time of the funeral service.
A Life long lived will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 at 12:00 O'Clock High Noon, First Baptist Missionary Church, Weldon, NC. Rev. Danny Jones will be the eulogist. Pastor T. J. Walker will assist.
Life for Doris Elizabeth Lane Benjamin began on Saturday, September 29, 1951 in Weldon, North Carolina. She was born to the parentage of the late Garrett and Lillian Richard Lane.
In 1963 Doris felt the need to accepted Christ as her Personal Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Weldon, North Carolina.
Doris received her early education from the Weldon Public School System and attended Ralph J. Bunche High School, Weldon.NC. She moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 1980 and later earned her GED in 1983. She pursued studies in Criminal Justice at the Edgecombe Community College.
Doris met and married the late Milon Joseph Benjamin and there union was blessed with one child the late Shimeka Jovita Lane.
While living in Rocky Mount, North Carolina Doris worked in several factories. In 1989 she returned to Garysburg, North Carolina and gained employment as a store clerk with New Dixie Mart and later with Blue Flame in Weldon, North Carolina until her health declined.
Along with her parents and daughter Doris was preceded in death by her brother: Lewis P. Lane and daughter-in-law: Tonya Williams Lane.
God looked around his garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth and saw Doris tired face. He put His arms around her and lifted her to rest on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 10:40 PM in Northampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, North Carolina.
Leaving to cherish many fond and loving memories are her son: Patrick Lane of Garysburg, North Carolina; her grandsons: Leondre Lane of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Tigris Lane of Garysburg, North Carolina; three great grandchildren: DeShawn Roberts of Greenville, North Carolina, Alyrica Jovita Paris Lane of Georgia and Kyson Morgan of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; her siblings: Delores Hughes and husband Lonnie of Maryland, Lillian Denise Darden and husband Cardell of Pleasant Hill, North Carolina and John Lane and wife Gwen of Greensboro, North Carolina; a Sister-In-Law: Pura Franco Lane; her nieces: Desirea Hughes, Lonica Roberts, Alyssa Little, Andrea Lane and Jalen Darden; her nephews: Garratt and Gary Lane, David Hughes, CJ Little, and Hamilton Darden, II; a daughter at heart: Themedia Buffaloe of Petersburg, Virginia; two granddaughters at heart: Jac'Aja Buffaloe of Springfield, Massachusetts and Jamarah Buffaloe-Byrd of Petersburg, Virginia; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
