The Life of Diewenn Cecilia Gregory-Motley, 58
Unite with us in celebration as we reflect on the life of Diewenn Cecilia Gregory-Motley , age 58 of Carrboro, NC. A longtime resident of Roanoke Rapids, NC, who transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, Vidant Health Medical Center, Greenville, NC.
Diewenn, affectionately, who went by "Gwen", was the only daughter of the late Elmer "Fats" and Evangelist Violene Pierce-Gregory, was born June 24, 1965, in Roanoke Rapids. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jasper "Ricky" Lee Gregory.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age and continued throughout life with a personal relationship with her Heavenly Father. Diewenn enjoyed music and even dabbled with playing the keyboard with her brothers whenever possible. She was a member of the gospel group "Wanda Matthews & Divinity" for many years and has remained friends with the former members to this day. Anyone that knew her could expect many laughs and fun times in her presence. She always tried to be a beacon of light to those in her company and would strive to help in any way possible with the dream of being a psychiatrist.
Treasuring her memories are: Her Two Children: Alton "Jay" Chapman, Jr. of Durham, NC and Jai Motley of Los Angeles, CA; Her Brothers: Rev. Elmer C. Gregory, Jr. PhD and wife Deirdre of Jacksonville, FL, Edward Gregory, Sr. and wife Emma of Manson, NC, Don Gregory, Sr. and wife Aura of Cape Coral, FL, Tony Gregory of Albuquerque, NM, Carl Gregory, Sr. and wife Judith of Jacksonville, FL, and Darrel Gregory of Holiday, FL; An Aunt: Verlie P. Baird of Pfafftown, NC; An Uncle: James E. Pierce of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Within honoring her wishes to be cremated, a Celebration Honoring the Life and Spirit of Diewenn Cecilia Gregory-Motley will be held in the month of her birth (June 2024) and future announcements of this celebration will be posted.
