The Life of Catherine Pye, 77

There will be a private viewing for the children and grandchildren  ONLY on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 2:30 PM at the funeral parlor, followed by a public viewing from 3 to 6 PM. Due to COVID-19 only 4 people will be allowed to enter at a time and a mask or facial covering will be required to enter.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 High Noon, Friday, March 5, 2021, Coleman-McGee Funeral Home Front Lawn, Pastor Jessie Allen will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Oakridge Cemetery, Weldon, NC.

Catherine Epps Pye was born to the late Elmo and Isabelle Epps on June 1,1943 in Halifax, North Carolina. She went to Halifax County Schools until she graduated and went to work in the hospitality field until she retired in 1999. After retirement Catherine devoted her time to family and church. She was a faithful member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church were she held the position of Sunday School Teacher and Secretary. All extra time was spent with her sisters, children, and grandchildren.

Catherine received her wings on February 21, 2021 at Vidant North Hospital, Roanoke Rapids, NC. Preceding her in death are her parents Elmo and Isabelle Epps, her husband Ricky Pye Sr., her daughter Veronica Victoria Pye, her brother Allen Augusta Epps, and her sister Mary Kitchings.

She leaves to cherish her life; a daughter: Lakisha Johnson and husband Erron of Enfield, North Carolina; a son: Ricky Pye Jr. and wife Kia of Richmond, Virginia; Eleven grandchildren Tavaris, RickyIII, Albert, Lablunta, Shavonte, Ali'ze, Deontre, Donasia, Don Jr., Ver'nyjah, Ty'janik, and one great grandchild: Lydon; Four sisters; Annie Thomas of Newark, New Jersey, Carrie Ponton of Halifax, North Carolina, Helen Ingram of Greensboro, North Carolina, Lucille Davis of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; two Sisters-In-Law: Angela Pye and Joann Welch and husband Wayne; several Brothers-In-Law:  Kenneth Thompson and wife Doris, Rodney Thompson and wife Juanita, Allen Thompson and wife Jackie, and Michael Thompson and wife Portia  and a host of nieces and nephews.

A special thanks goes to her one and only Son-In-Law Erron Johnson who was her best friend and confidant and catered to her every beck and call.
