Mr. Barry "BJ" Jerome Coates, 45

A private viewing for immediate family only , will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 at 12:30 In The Afternoon at the funeral parlor. The public viewing will be from 3 to 6 PM.

Graveside Services will be Saturday, October 17, 2020, 1:00  In The Afternoon, Phillips Cemetery, Seaboard, NC. Rev. Linwood Clark will deliver the eulogy. Pall Bearers will be: Diyosha L. McGee, Maurice McGee, James Coates. Jr., Joseph Richardson, Jerry Squire and Gregory Richardson.

Facial coverings will be enforced at the viewing and the graveside service. Only 4-people will be allowed to enter the funeral parlor at a time.

Barry "BJ" Jerome Coates, son of Mr. & Mrs. Napoleon & Martha Marie McGee-Coates, the only child born July 15, 1975 in Halifax County, NC. He expired Thursday, October 8, 2020 at his residence in Garysburg, NC

His education was received through Northampton County Public School System. He was an outstanding Football player and was so good, he was moved to varsity during his sophomore year.

Talking trash was a joy to him and a way of showing his love and having a good time. Spending time at Turner's Grocery Store and 51 Sycamore Bar & Grill was a lime light to him.

An avid Dallas Cowboy fan, oh was he...Fishing, Gardening and cooking on the grill was his joys. He was employed with RMR Mechanical.

"BJ" leaves the Love of His Life to:  His Parents:  Napoleon & Martha Marie McGee-Coates of the home; One Son: Barry "JJ" Jerome Coates, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC; Two Children He cared for as his own:  Durell Davis of Rochester, NY and Khloe Jacobs of Garysburg, NC; His Aunts:  Lucinda M. Squire, Garysburg, NC, Evelyn Winborne and husband Arthur, Seaboard, NC, Evangelist Evelyn S. McGee, Peachtree Corner, GA, Edith Coates, Seaboard, NC, Cathy M. Washington and husband Steven, Garysburg, NC, Linda Richardson and husband Timothy Sr., Seaboard, NC, Pamale Kee and husband Earl, Garysburg, NC, Betty Hughes, Garysburg, NC, Brenda Davis and husband Wilbur, Maryland, NC, Renee Hughes, Garysburg, NC and Sharon Harvey, Brooklyn, NY; His Uncles:  Linwood McGee, Jr., Milton, NC, James T.
