The  Life of Ava Marie Garner Fitts, 73

A viewing  for immediate FAMILY ONLY will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 3 to 5 at the funeral parlor. If the children doesn't have your name on their list, please do not show up for the viewing. This is the request of the family.

The life of a great Ward Secretary and a great Christmas candy maker, came to an end on Sunday, September 1, 2024 in Select Specialty Hospital (Moses Cone Hospital), Greensboro, NC, around 11:25 am.

Ava a resident of Weldon, NC, was the proud daughter of the late Clarence & Virginia Richards Garner, born March 17, 1951, in Halifax County, NC. She graduated from Ralph J.  Bunche High School, Weldon, NC in 1969.

Ava was married to Charles B. "Bruce" Fitts, Jr. and to this union two lovely children were born Marie Janette Fitts and Charles B. Fitts, III (Jr.)

She was employed with Sears and Halifax Regional Medical Center for many years.

Ava loved baking and making her Christmas cookies and candies, she had a great love for spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorite song was "The Blood".  She loved singing

She was a faithful and loyal member of  St Matthew's AME Church, Weldon, NC, where she was an Usher, member of the Trustee and Stewart's Board all of her life.

She is survived by her children--  Marie Jeanette Oatis and husband Gary of the home and Charles B. Fitts, III and wife Crystal of  Roanoke Rapids, NC, Grandchildren-- Myasia Fitts, Malik Fitts, Demond Fitts, Jamar Banks, Charles Junior Fitts (CJ), and Cameren Fitts (Cam)
Great Grandchildren-- Jalissa Fitts, Kaeden Fitts-Garris, and Eden Garris, a
Sister--  Elaine Avent of Halifax, NC,
Four Brothers-- Mitchell Richards of Halifax, NC, Michael Garner of Atlanta, GA, Steve Garner and wife Sheila of Weldon, NC and Anthony Garner and wife Tanya of Roanoke Rapids, NC, A Brother-In-Law--David Fitts, Sr. and wife Maxine of Durham, NC , Two Sisters-In-Law-- Ethel Daniel and husband Cleophus of Durham, NC and Marilyn Fitts of Durham, NC, Devoted Friends- Jimmy Scott, Shirley Henderson, Roy & Bonita Long, and Earlene Smith,
She was proceeded in death by: Brothers- Clarence Garner, Jr. and Terry Garner, a special friend-- Mrs Dorothy Johnson, she also leaves   a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
