Obituary

Alee Ricks Rawles was born on October 17, 1923 to Bessie Gaye Ricks and James (Jim) Ricks in Jackson, North Carolina. She grew up in Jackson and was educated in the Northampton County Public Schools. She was next to the youngest of five children. Her parents and brothers, James, Gaye, Eddie Ricks, and Herman Ricks preceded her in death.

At an early age, Alee confessed her faith in Christ and joined piney Grove Baptist Church in Jackson, NC. In later years, she joined the Apostolic Faith Churches of Giving Grace, Inc., where she remained a faithful member until she departed this earthly life to be with her Savior on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Alee loved her Church. She held the positions of Usher, Church Secretary, and served on the Sick Committee at St. Mary's in Jackson, NC Alee would share with everyone she met about being saved, trusting God and believing in the Love of Christ.

Alee was united in Holy Matrimony to Zollia C. Rawles. This union was blessed with thirteen children; ten sons: Zollia Jr., David, Collins (Christina), Alphill (Audrey), Carson(Johnnie), Louis, James (Sandra), Carl (Stephna), Ronald (Rocky), and Melvin (Sylvia); three daughters: Arlean Morris (Richard), Sheila Morris (Johny), and Ella Rawles; one stepson: William Sweat. In addition to her children, she also raised a granddaughter: LaXonddra Parker, and a great- granddaughterTamera Parker. Others left to cherish her memories are one sister: Bessie Boone; 59 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchilddren and a host of nieces, cousins a, relatives and friends.

Her husband and children will forever cherish the beautiful memories of those things she loved and enjoyed. Some of her favorite hobbies included sewing, fishing, writing poetry for, and about, her childdren and grandchildren. Alee loved spending time with her family. She taught her children to love each other and to share. She would often read the Bible to her grandchilrenand stressed to them the importance of Salvation. She was very compassionate and always made special efforts to extend courtesy, kindness and love to all. Her children's friends felt welcome in her home.

Funeral servicces will be Saturday, May 8, 3010 at l:00 p.m. at the New Jerusalem Holiness Church, Garysburg, NC with Dr. Monroe Hughes, Presiding, and Bishop Arthur Epps, Eulogist. Interment to follow in New Jerusalem Holiness Church Cemetery, Garysburg, NC.
